Celebrating Fall, and Life, at Sweet Berry Farm

What a treat to be reminded of a simpler time! I’d heard about Sweet Berry Farm from a previous visit to Marble Falls. The last time, I was in town for work AND pie from the Blue Bonnet Cafe. I was told the farm was a wonderful place to visit in the spring when the berries are in, but fall was particularly popular because of their pumpkin patch.

From the moment you drive up to the farm, located just outside of Marble Falls, you recognize that things are very different from the technology-heavy world we live in today. For those of you raised in the city, you may have never known what it was like to ride a tractor, pick fresh flowers from the yard, enjoy hand-cranked ice cream, pick fruits and vegetables from your garden or just breathe the fresh air. Sweet Berry Farm brought back those memories for me and so much more!

Pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, types and sizes can be seen from across the vast acreage. The colors of fall are everywhere.

So many things caught my eye during this visit but nothing as much as the “pick your own” patch of zinnias. The colors are incredible!

One of my favorite moments was watching families emerge together from the Texas-shaped Corn Maze. I’m not sure if you went in at Brownsville and came out at Dalhart or if you entered in Texarkana and emerged in El Paso. Either way, the screams of triumph made it all worthwhile.

In the lyrics written by Texas-born singer/songwriter Mac Davis, “You’ve got to stop and smell the roses. You’ve got to count your many blessings everyday. You’re gonna find your way to heaven is a rough and rocky road, if you don’t stop and smell the roses along the way.” No, the pictures below are not roses, but you get my drift, right?
